|Job Title||Payroll Specialist|
The Payroll Specialist is responsible for performing all payroll activities related to certified payroll and compliance. This position is hourly and may incur overtime as approved by management. The Payroll Specialist reports to the Controller. Primary duties and responsibilities include all aspects of payroll including: •Compile and enter payroll data such as hours worked, job classification, equipment used and pay rate on a weekly basis from timecards and electronic timesheets. •Compute wages, garnishments and deductions. •Process and post payroll weekly. •Reconcile payroll data for accuracy. •Ensure compliance with union labor agreements and federal, state and local regulations. •Maintain and organize payroll records in compliance with retention policies. •Process weekly payroll liabilities, 401(k) reporting, monthly union fringe reports, prevailing wage reports. •Enter and maintain employee data in payroll system, new hires, terminations, etc. •Proofread documents and reports for accuracy, completeness and compliance. •Other duties as assigned.
Education, Experience and Skills: •Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration or a related discipline •5+ years of experience of payroll processing, preferably in a high-volume construction payroll department. •OR •An equivalent combination of education and experience. •Union payroll experience preferred but not required.
